February 4, 2022

I hope you are staying safe and warm; spring is on the horizon bringing nicer weather and hopefully decreasing Covid!  We can still find comfort in our Rotary clubs and the various works we do.  Yes, it is a bit harder but email, Zoom, Facebook, and our District newsletter enable us to remain engaged. For some, phone calls, an article in the local paper, or quick mailed note are better.  Use any or all of these to stayed connected to your club, our District, and with your community.

Share what your club is doing. The more people hear what Rotary does the more support and interest there is.  Sharing is a great way to connect with other groups and maybe, just maybe, gain a few members.

Here are some fun Rotary events to look forward to.

Our District Conference 29, 30 April, and 01 May

Join your 7170 Rotarian friends at the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa in Fairport, NY, this spring.

The focus is “Rotary and Our Environment” but, like true Rotarians, we will also be having fun. Golf on the Friday afternoon, a 5k walk/run Sat morning on trails around the grounds, and, if things go right Elvis, the king of rock and roll, will be visiting!

Breakout sessions on topics such as: Reshaping & Redistricting, How to Move Toward a Zero Carbon Footprint, Tai chi, the Regional Clean Energy Economy, Engaging Business in the Fight Against Climate Change, Genealogy, Saving the World from Your Home (reducing, reusing, recycling), and more.

The Zoom link for details and registration is on our District home page under ‘Upcoming Events’.

Our Foundation Celebration will be the week of May 9th

We are looking at a brewery or winery, most likely Ommegang, for this fun and informal gathering. This will be a relaxing opportunity to network and learn more about The Rotary Foundation.

District Pass the Gavel, Thirsday, 17 June (pending confirmation)

Last year’s District Pass the Gavel was such a success that we are planning to start a tradition and meet at the “Traditions Hotel” in Johnson City again!  Iwill have my last say and we will welcome Rocky Martinex our 22-23 DG.

At all these events we will follow Covid guidelines. We expect attendees to be fully vaccinated and to wear masks and maintain social distancing when required.

Keep an eye on our District homepage ”Upcoming Events” and our newsletter for more details.

Warm regards,

DG Evan Kurtz

PS Don’t forget our monthly “Chat with the DG Track”, your opportunity to engage with the District leadership. The 5th of every month, as in Saturday at 7:00 PM. The Zoom link is on our District home page under ‘Upcoming Events’.
