The Spring Clean-Up
In April and May of every year, and again in 2005, the Cortland Rotary Breakfast Club worked with the County Area Agency on Aging to perform outdoor Spring clean-up tasks at the homes of seniors throughout the county. In 2005, seven teams of Rotarians met after work during the week, and on weekends to work on the properties of 46 seniors living in Cortland, Homer, and Marathon. Rotarians cleaned gutters, raked leaves, trimmed bushes and removed brush, washed windows, removed storm windows and installed screens, and swept sidewalks and garages. Seniors were generally very appreciative of the help, and some met the work crews with coffee and cookies and sent lovely thank you notes. Special thanks to team captains from the CRBC:  Dave Bowman, Diane Wheaton, Mike May, Andy Lundeen, Andy Polley, Mark Roberts, and Brian Kenney.

Ride for Rotary
The Ride for Rotary began in 2005 and we’ll be riding again in ’06. Under the guidance of Don Richards our club raised nearly $3,000. Half went to Hurricane Relief and the remainder stayed in Cortland County to be used on one of our many youth related projects. While the ride took place in August last year, the plan is to roll in the spring of 2006 and again 100% of the proceeds are going to charity. Stay tuned for more information and sign up forms.
